I’ve had the reference photo for this painting on my phone for 3 years! I always knew I wanted to paint it because I love that low cloud just hanging over the mountains, I just didn’t work up the courage until now. Having said that, I’m super happy with how this one came out with all the layers of trees and the fog. I took the photo on highway 93 just outside of McLeod Meadows in Kootenay National Park on the September long weekend in 2023.
